Two more days into the movie. We have wrapped 10 days of filming. 10 days! We are in the double digits now! Woohoo! We still have a ways to go, but 10 days is a nice round number to celebrate.
Day 9 was a nice shoot. When we shot the teaser for Red Scare in January, it was freezing and snowy... Isaac fell into a snow pile with Billy, and Isaac was wearing his "Happy" Charlie outfit of a tee shirt. Loarina's poor legs were so cold in her dress as well. I was pretty comfortable in my suit... Little did I realize that I would come to regret that costume choice when we started filming in the summer. Ah well, that is karma. We also welcomed Wanda Madleigh on the set for her role as Olga. It was pretty hysterical.
There will be more writing and rambling after a short picture break of day 9:
Day 10 was also pretty great. We were at a loss for a location... It was to the point where I was nearly forced to reschedule, but we were able to get a location thanks to Blake Zawadzki. The location worked really well. Was it what I pictured when I wrote the script? No. But we aren't really at the financial level where "interior-castle" is the easiest location to get. But Blake's location really came through, and it worked really well for what I wanted. We also welcomed Jeff Kahle and Matt Hojnacki into the cast. They played Russian soldiers: Chernyi & Belyi.
For this shoot, Isaac had to sit in a chair for the entirety of the 3 hour shoot. Well, technically he didn't "have" to, but he did! All with a metal strainer on his head. He bore this suffering pretty well all things considered, and onlt asked for a drink twice. The little headpiece he is wearing was made by me. No big deal or anything. Just was.

Loarina is not only Becky Sue, but anyone on set can tell that she is one of the rocks of Red Scare. Along with myself, Billy, Sean, Joey, and Tony, Loarina has never missed a shoot. She will do whatever task is assigned her (more often than not taskS) and she will do it with a smile on her face. Today, she was our photographer and towards the end asked me to take at least a picture of her, because there were no other pictures of her the whole day. So, I took a picture... and then another, and then another.... And here they are. I don't think she expected me to take so many pictures so fast.
And there you have it. 10 days in to a hysterical feature length film. We couldn't do it without those rocks I mentioned above, who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Like I said, we have a ways to go... We are a little more than 1/3 done with principle photography, but that leaves quite a bit more. We also need to raise more money through indiegogo.com/red-scare. So, donate, tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell people you pass in the street who may think you're strange for telling them about a movie that they don't know but who will later thank you when they realize how great the movie actually is!
We resume shooting with one of my favorite scenes on Tuesday. Things to look forward to: some behind the scenes footage, and a nifty new trailer. Both of those things will be coming sooner rather than later, so keep your eyes peeled.
Stay tuned!
