NJ IFF 2012

Last night, Red Scare helped open up the Summer 2012 NJ IFF. It was Red Scare's first festival, and a really nice one. We had a nice turnout; could have been better, could have been worse. It was great to see the people who did show up; both people have seen the movie several times and people who had never seen it. And on a rainy night in New Brunswick no less! I know that several people could not be there for whatever reason, and they were missed, but it was great to see the people who did make it.

So, thank you to: Andrew & Charlene Platizky, Marty & Isabell Tuman, Isaac Platizky, Dan Gregory and his girlfriend Beth, Billy Dautrick, Amy DeGise, Aaron Visco, Matt Hojnacki, Blake Zawadzki, Chris Lucas, Sean Lucas, Adam Lucas, Keith McCord, Michael McCord, Sean Feuer, the Reverend William Farley, Max Arias, Howard Singer, Jason Goldstein, Ivan Rushfield, Mike Brennan, Eric Parkin, Ilana Seagull, Dominic Buccafusco and his wife, Jeramie Argueta and his friends, and all the people I don't know who were there.

Making movies is great. Having your friends and family support you at events like this is even better.

There are some pictures below courtesy of Isaac Platizky, but I couldn't upload them all. For some reason there is a cap on picture uploads on blogger, so I don't know if I will be able to post any more without spending money, and I am not doing that... So, you can find pictures (and other Sam Platizky news) at splatizky.wordpress.com.

Hopefully we have many more festivals ahead of us.

Stay tuned!

Aloha & Mahalo

Aloha!

A week ago, I (along with Bill and Isaac) were getting ready to leave the beautiful big island of Hawai'i. A week before that, I (along with Bill and Isaac) were just getting ready to embark on our adventure. And none of that would have been possible if it weren't for Red Scare.

As you are no doubt aware, Red Scare won the Gold Kahuna Award at this year's Honolulu Film Awards. After a small amount of thought, Bill, Isaac, and I decided that we would go to Hawaii to accept the award... We would have been crazy not to.

Hawaii, as you may know, is a beautiful place. The best beach I have ever been to (sorry, Jersey Shore), and some of the most impressive scenery that you are likely to see. I mean, how often do you get to come face to face with an active volcano?

So, we went to Honolulu, had a blast, accepted the Gold Kahuna Award (while making people remember that we are from NJ), and visited the Big Island (Hawaii) to boot. It was an amazing experience. I think that anyone visiting Hawaii would have a great time, but being able to go to such an amazing place because of a movie that you made? Can't be beat. It is amazing. It is addicting. I want to follow Red Scare all over the world, and I hope that it manages to travel to other places like Hawaii. And then, I want to continue making nothing but successful movies and doing likewise... and maybe getting paid for them. That would be nice.

I have done it before, and I will do it again. Huge thanks to everyone who was involved in Red Scare, from the cast and crew to the musicians and donors. We could not have done it without you.

What's next for Red Scare, you might ask? I'm glad you asked. Next up, we will be opening up the NJ International Film Festival. That will be 7pm on Friday, June 1st in New Brunswick. Voorhies Hall of the RU campus to be exact. Check out this cool interview that Christina Garced did for the festival: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deNBK1X12Yg&feature=youtu.be. She does an amazing job selling the movie. It almost makes me want to see it! The only minor error is she said I directed our last feature, Blaming George Romero. I did not. That was all Bob Lise, with the amazing Raul Garcia as his DP. I just wrote it, produced it (along with Brad Resnick), and acted in it.

That is all for now. I hope to have more positive announcements about Red Scare soon. I really, really hope to. In the meantime, below are some pictures from the trip in absolutely no order whatsoever. Enjoy!

Stay tuned,
